ATS Clock Support in the Liberty Court Recorder

The Liberty Recorder supports industry standard clocks such as the ATS CC186 pictured below, to indicate that recording is active in the courtroom. These clocks can connect to the recording PC via a serial port, or using a USB adaptor.

If the clock is connected to the recording PC using USB, then the appropriate driver must be downloaded from the ATS site and installed onto the recording computer. 

Some clocks may also require the connection method be specified on either the clock or within user interface for the clock.

For example, for the CC186:

• Navigate to the "Technical Support" page of the ATS website at https://www.ats-usa.com/ and select "Software".
• About 3/4 of the way down the page on your left, you will see "XP/VISTA/W7/W8/W10/W11 .INF file for CC186 USB clocks".
• In the next column to the right you will see instructions for Serial and USB connection options
• To the far right is driver file. Be sure to read all the information including the "Read me" found in the driver package, before proceeding.

Also, for courts that have previously used other recording applications, some other applications lock the COM port, even when they are not active. In such a case, you will receive an "Access Denied" message from the Liberty Recorder.

If you receive the "Access Denied" message, go into the configuration options of the other recording application and, at least on a temporary basis, disable the clock. Then re-start the Liberty Recorder. This should clear the "Access Denied" message issue. 

If the clock is connected to the recording PC with a serial cable, then a driver is not required. 

Enable the Clock in the Recorder Configuration Options

Go to the "Clock" tab of the Recorder configuration options. Enable "Sync time with display clock" and specify that the clock type is ATS. Specify the applicable COM port. Be sure to disable other applications use of the clock to prevent the "Access Denied" message.
