Liberty Recorder Support for Kuando BusyLight

November 3, 2022: Liberty Recorder Support for Kuando BusyLight UC Omega

Beginning immediately, the Liberty Court Recorder provides support for the Kuando BusyLight UC Omega

to indicate the status of courtroom recording.

The colors on the BusyLight will indicate as follows:

  • BusyLight is off recording is not active.
  • BusyLight is Red recording is active.
  • BusyLight is Green recording is not active and the recorder is controlled by a remote user.
  • BusyLight is blinking Red recording is paused or there is an error condition.

To support the BusyLight UC Omega, the Liberty Helper Service (LHS) must be installed and the BusyLight must be connected via USB to the computer on which the LHS is running.

The Recorder options must use "Room Profiles" where a courtroom name is specified.

And additionally in the Recorder options, on the 'Recording' tab, in the 'External Devices' dialog, 'Use External Devices' must be enabled.

The same courtroom name specified in the Recorder courtroom profile must be entered into the Helper Service.

Additionally, the BusyLight Support Package must be installed onto the same computer as the LHS is running.

Download the BusyLight Support Package from this link (BusyLightReg_NET4.zip) and follow the steps as outlined below:

  • Extract/unzip the zip package into a folder on the same computer as will run the LHS.
  • Run the included reg_busylight.bat file. Be sure, to run the bat file as system 'Admin'.
  • Be sure that running the reg_busylight.bat completes successfully to register the files.
  • The extracted files must be preserved/remain unchanged, as long as support for the BusyLight is required.
  • If the extracted files are moved for any reason, the reg_busylight.bat must be run again (as Admin) after moving the files.
  • Make sure that a BusyLight device is connected to the same computer as is running the Helper Service.

Start the LHS Configurator and configure rooms for using BusyLight devices by enabling the 'Use Busylight device' checkbox

and select the particular device to be used with the room.

Note, if the BusyLight Support Package files did not get properly registered when executing reg_busylight.bat, then the BusyLight part of the LHS dialog Window will be hidden and you will not see the BusyLight configuration settings.
