Liberty Recording Simultaneous Write or "Mirroring" Feature

Introduction

As the Liberty Recorder captures the courtroom audio data, it must write the primary recording file to a local hard-drive on the recording PC, usually the "C:" drive.

The Liberty Recorder is also capable of simultaneously writing the data to a secondary location, thereby providing a back-up, duplicate copy of the recording file. This facility is called "Mirroring" because, when active, a mirror copy of the recording file is automatically created by the Liberty system. If the system is also recording video, this is also captured into the mirror file along with any bookmark annotations. The Mirroring feature eliminates the possibility of data loss of due to a malfunctioning primary storage device.

Mirror Options

Generally, there are three options for Mirroring:

  • Mirror to a Network Drive,
  • Mirror to an alternate local drive, including Memory Stick or Flash Drive or,
  • Mirror to a CD*.

* Real-time Mirroring to a CD requires that real-time CD writing software be installed on the PC.

Mirroring is activated in the Recorder View => Options => Mirroring Window as seen below:

Options on the Mirror Window specify when the file is to be mirrored, if the "Archive" flag is to be used to identify files that have not been successfully mirrored, and if the local copy of the file must be deleted after mirroring has completed.

Post Recording Manager can also be used to copy the recording files to a tertiary storage location.
