Important Notice

This page provides general information about participation using Liberty Virtual Courtroom. It does not establish, expand, limit, or replace any legal or procedural right.

The court or organization conducting the proceeding determines the rules and legal requirements applicable to your hearing. If the court provides its own rights, participant instructions, or hearing rules, those materials control.

Virtual Hearing Participant Rights & Responsibilities

Liberty Virtual Courtroom is technology used by courts and other government organizations to conduct remote and hybrid proceedings. The court or organization conducting your proceeding determines the rules, procedures, and legal requirements that apply to your hearing.

Your proceeding

You should follow all instructions provided by the court, hearing officer, clerk, or other authorized official.

Participation through Liberty Virtual Courtroom does not change any legal rights or responsibilities that otherwise apply to your proceeding.

Questions concerning your case, hearing procedures, deadlines, evidence, representation, accommodations, appeals, or other legal matters should be directed to the court or organization conducting your proceeding.

During the hearing

When participating remotely:

  • Identify yourself accurately when requested.
  • Participate only in proceedings you are authorized to attend.
  • Follow the instructions of the judge, hearing officer, clerk, or court staff.
  • Do not disrupt the proceeding or interfere with other participants.
  • Do not share hearing access links, access codes, or other credentials unless authorized by the court.
  • Do not independently record, photograph, broadcast, stream, or redistribute the proceeding unless permitted by the court and applicable law.

Recording and monitoring

The court or organization conducting the proceeding may record or monitor audio, video, captions, transcripts, participant information, and other information associated with the proceeding.

The court determines whether a recording constitutes the official record and controls access, retention, disclosure, and distribution of that record.

Privacy

Virtual proceedings may involve other participants who can hear or see information presented during the hearing.

Participants should join from an appropriate location and take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized persons from viewing or hearing the proceeding.

Information about Liberty Recording's handling of personal and technical information is available in our Privacy Policy.

Technical issues

Participants are responsible for maintaining a suitable internet connection, compatible device, microphone, speakers, and camera when required by the court.

If technical problems prevent you from participating, follow the instructions provided by the court. High Criteria, Inc. cannot reschedule hearings, extend filing deadlines, excuse an absence, or make decisions regarding your case.

Accessibility and accommodations

Requests for interpreters, disability accommodations, language assistance, or other accommodations should be directed to the court or organization conducting the proceeding.
