    High Criteria Inc. Announces Liberty Court Recorder Version 2.0

    High Criteria Inc, a world leader in computer audio recording systems, today announced the immediate availability of an updated version of the Liberty Court Recording system for recording courtroom and other legal proceedings. The Liberty Court Recorder is a digital recording application that runs on a PC or laptop and records multiple audio channels directly to the computer hard-drive.

    The Liberty System offers an economical alternative for those wanting to move away from tape systems and incorporate the benefits of a digital audio recording system into the courtroom.

    Enhancements to the system include:

    • The ability to continue to record proceedings while at the same time, playing back a portion of previously recorded material.
    • The ability to simultaneously record the proceedings to multiple drives, for back-up and archive.
    • Enhanced visual indicators to display the active channels and the channels being monitored.
    • A private area was introduced into the bookmarks feature so that private notes may be taken.
    • Other usability and stability enhancements were also introduced.

    High Criteria Inc. Announces Liberty Court Recorder Version 1.2

    High Criteria Inc, a world leader in computer audio recording systems, today announced the immediate availability of a new solution for recording courtroom and other legal proceedings. The Liberty Court Recorder is a digital recording system that runs on a PC or laptop and records multiple audio channels directly to the computer hard drive.

    The Liberty System offers an economical alternative for those wanting to move away from tape systems and incorporate the benefits of a digital audio recording system into the courtroom.

    The Liberty System is being used in the Carroll County Superior Court in Indiana. The court staff have found the clarity of sound is much better with the Liberty system than with their old equipment. The process of recording the information is simplified and retrieval is much quicker and simpler. The court reporters found the Liberty system easy to learn and to use and the court has also benefited from the reduced storage space required for archiving.

    Digital Recording Officially Approved

    The Federal Judicial Center for United States Federal Courts released a report on pilot site testing of digital audio recording systems. In key recommendations, the report states that:

    "... the Judicial Conference should approve digital recording as a method of taking the official record in federal court proceedings ...."

    Subsequently, in September of 1999, the Judicial Conference for the United States Federal Courts approved the use of digital recording systems as a method of taking the official record in the federal court system.

    The committee findings were based on evidence obtained during pilot tests of digital recording systems.

    The Federal Judicial Center is the research and education agency of the U.S. Federal judicial system. It was established by Congress in 1967, on the recommendation of the Judicial Conference of the United States.
