High Criteria, Liberty Court Recording System, Section 508 Compliance Update

High Criteria Inc., today announced that it has incorporated additional Section 508 facilities into its latest version of the Liberty Court Recording application. These latest updates will further enhance the ability of disabled persons to use the application.

Section 508 is a portion of the 1998 amendment to the United States Rehabilitation Act. Section 508 requires that Federal U.S. Agencies make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities, and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals. The law applies to all U.S. Federal agencies when they develop, procure, maintain, or use electronic and information technology. Under Section 508, agencies must give disabled employees and members of the public access to information that is comparable to the access available to others.

The Liberty Court Recorder is a PC based audio / video recording application specifically designed to record in courtrooms, hearing rooms and in any venue where the spoken word will form the basis of an official record. High Criteria has an extended history working with assistive technology. For many years, users of the High Criteria "Total Recorder" program have used Total Recorder along with assistive technology programs such as JAWS. The experience gained through the introduction of changes into the Total Recorder program has assisted in the implementation of appropriate updates for the Liberty line of recording solutions.
